The Bayeux Tapestry tells us the story of Harold and William and a battle that changed the course of English history. It is the story of the Battle of Hastings in 1066 and how William and his Norman soldiers came across the English Channel to defeat Harold and his Anglo-Saxons. It was a bloody affair in which Harold was killed and a new king crowed in England.
This is the beginning of the High Middle Ages and we will be studying this time period until Spring Break. To begin, we will examine the causes and effects of the Battle of Hastings and write a letter from the perspective of either an Anglo-Saxon or Norman soldier. This work will be due Tuesday, January 26th.
