Shrek and the twisted fairy tale unit is a fun filled adventure where students get to play the characters, critique fairy tale culture, and as what it means to be different in a world where much of our culture is becoming the same. Through the Shrek stories, we want to see what it means to have a more open-minded approach to the world, what hurdles girls still need to overcome, our preconceptions about how things should be, and what impact our lives have on others around us. And we get to read the scripts and pretend to be characters.
This week’s assignment is the Fairy Tale Comparison Chart due Tuesday, April 26th. The final projects with be both a group project and an individual essay as we continue to practice our writing.
